Bridlington Harbour Commissioners would like to express their sincere condolences on the sudden passing of Miss Margaret Rose Hyland, on the 18th June 2019, following a short illness.
Margaret (or Maggie) as she was known by the majority of harbour users, had been employed on the harbour by the Harbour Commissioner since 1988. Margaret originally came to Bridlington on holiday from the West Riding and took on temporary work at the harbour to cover for staff annual leave. Impressing by her ability, Margaret was taken on as permanent staff and progressed through the office to become the Collector of Dues. In 2012 Margaret was promoted to Chief Executive and Collector of Dues to the Bridlington Harbour Commissioners.
Margaret’s knowledge of the harbour was unrivalled and invaluable and her commitment to the harbour and Commissioners was unstinting.
Margarets other passion was horses and her involvement with harness racing.
As a mark of respect the harbour flag is struck at half mast.
Margaret will be sadly missed.
